Kharan: Assistant Commissioner Kharan Rizwan Qadir officially inaugurated two new labor rooms at the Basic Health Units (BHU) in Maskan Qalat and Dino, significantly enhancing maternal health facilities in the region.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, these developments are part of a broader initiative by the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) Kharan, under the directives of CEO Hameedullah Nasir, to bring essential health services to rural areas, particularly for expectant mothers. This effort addresses the critical need for accessible healthcare, aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality by providing care close to home, especially during emergencies.
During the inauguration, District Support Manager PPHI Kharan Sohail Islam Baloch highlighted that these new facilities join two previously established labor rooms in BHU Nowroz Kalat and BHU Jangal last financial year. The labor rooms are equipped with technical staff and solar systems to ensure uninterrupted power, enhancing their capability to handle emergencies.
The initiative is supported by higher regional authorities, including Commissioner Rukhshan Division Shah Irfan Ahmad Gharshin and Deputy Commissioner Kharan Munir Ahmad Soomro, who have aided PPHI’s mission to improve health services across the district. The recent additions are expected to alleviate the hardships of traveling long distances for medical care, which is a common challenge for women in remote areas.
Assistant Commissioner Rizwan Qadir expressed his satisfaction with the progress, emphasizing the importance of such facilities in improving health outcomes for women in Kharan. The efforts by PPHI have been praised as a significant step towards providing essential healthcare services to vulnerable populations in Balochistan.
