Khalil Hashmi Assumes Role as Pakistan’s New Ambassador to China

Beijing, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience, has officially begun his tenure as Pakistan’s new envoy to China. Arriving in Beijing over the weekend, Ambassador Hashmi was warmly received by Chinese officials and immediately commenced his duties.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Hashmi was welcomed by Mr. Zhang Maoming, Deputy Director General of Asia Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, upon his arrival. He takes over the position from Ambassador Moin ul Haque, who retired earlier this month. In his initial engagement, Ambassador Hashmi presented a copy of his credentials to Mr. Hong Lei, Director General of the Protocol Department. Hashmi expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and his determination to further strengthen the robust relationship between Pakistan and China. Director General Hong Lei extended his best wishes to Ambassador Hashmi for a successful tenure and assured him of full support. Ambassador Hashmi has a rich career spanning 29 years, with significant contributions in bilateral and multilateral relations. His previous roles include serving as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva and at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to New York. Ambassador Hashmi’s first diplomatic assignment was in Copenhagen, and he has held various important positions in Islamabad, reflecting his deep expertise in international relations.
