Khalid Saifi asks Delhi HC in which reasonable world will trial in his case end in future

New Delhi, December 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):Jailed Muslim activist, Khalid Saifi, has asked the Delhi High Court that in which reasonable world trial in his case end in the foreseeable future will with 15 accused. Khalid Saifi and dozens of Muslim men and women have been in jail after being booked under draconian law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), in 2020. They were arrested for participating in massive demonstrations against the Citizenship Amendment Act, an anti-minorities particularly anti-Muslim legislation introduced by the Narendra Modi-led fascist government in December 2019.

Khalid Saifi told the Delhi High Court that the trial in a case against him was not likely to end soon. Saifi’s lawyer, senior advocate Rebecca John, said the chargesheet in the FIR against her client has 495 witnesses, 33 protected witnesses, 63 investigating officers, and three supplementary charge sheets. “In which reasonable world this trial will end in the future which has about 15 accused persons?” Indian Express quoted Rebecca John as asking. The court listed the matter for arguments by special public prosecutor Amit Prasad for the Delhi Police on 5 January, 2023.
