Lahore: A delegation from KfW Development Bank, Germany, made a significant visit to NTDC Headquarters, WAPDA House Lahore, and the 220kV Ghazi Road Grid Station. The delegation, including Head of Division for Energy and Finance Esther Graven Cotter, Portfolio Manager Constantin Dalles, Technical Expert Aftab Ahmed, and Senior Sector Specialist Abrar Ahmed, engaged in comprehensive discussions with NTDC teams, led by Deputy Managing Director Rashid A. Bhutto, on ongoing projects funded by the bank.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the discussions predominantly focused on the 220kV Gharo Grid Station Project in Thatta district, Sindh. Key topics included the upcoming bid submissions by pre-qualified bidders and the evaluation process. The dialogue also extended to the 500kV Chakwal Grid Station Project, with a review of the Livelihood Restoration Plan associated with it. Moreover, the meetings addressed the strategic use of Accompanying Measures Grants for additional initiatives.
Subsequent to the discussions, the delegation visited the KfW-funded 220kV Ghazi Road Grid Station in Lahore. During this visit, Deputy Manager (Asset Management) Muhammad Mohsin provided an in-depth presentation on the substation’s role in fulfilling the increasing energy demands in the LESCO region and its impact on enhancing power reliability. The delegation commended the high standards of maintenance and management of the substation, acknowledging its vital contribution to Lahore’s infrastructure and community development.
Additionally, the visit included a ceremonial tree plantation, symbolizing the delegation’s commitment to environmental stewardship. The event was attended by other senior NTDC officials, including General Manager (Media and PR) Muhammad Ibrahim and Deputy Manager Security Major (R) Tanveer Ahmed, underscoring the collaborative efforts to promote sustainable practices within the energy sector.
