Brussels, Marking the Kashmir Black Day, the Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) led a demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Brussels, emphasizing the historical significance of the day and highlighting the concerns of the Kashmiri community.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, a diverse group of participants, including Kashmiris, Pakistanis, and representatives from various European NGOs, joined the demonstration. With placards and banners in hand, the crowd vocalized their condemnation of India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and the subsequent actions taken by Indian troops in the region.
Ali Raza Syed, Chairman of KCEU, addressed the assembly, recalling the events of 27th October 1947. He characterized the day as a grim moment in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out the Indian troops’ actions that defied international conventions and democratic values. Syed called upon the global community to influence New Delhi in halting its aggressive actions in the occupied region and to acknowledge the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Furthering the narrative, other speakers at the event reiterated the unwavering stance of the Kashmiri nation on their right to self-determination. The collective call was for the global community, especially the United Nations, to intervene and ensure the implementation of its resolutions to address and resolve the Kashmir dispute.
