Islamabad: The Voice of Justice for Kashmir and Kashmir Liberation Cell organized a significant event at Kashmir House in Islamabad to observe Kashmir’s Right to Self-Determination Day, highlighting the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event featured addresses from key leaders including Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and former President and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan. Other notable speakers included Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen, and Sardar Zulfiqar Roshan Khan. The gathering, which was attended by politicians, professors, intellectuals, students, poets, and people from various sectors, reiterated the commitment to remind the United Nations of the unfulfilled promise of a plebiscite for Kashmiris.
The speakers condemned the ongoing oppression faced by Kashmiris under Indian military rule and criticized the international community for its indifference. They emphasized the unwavering spirit of the Kashmiri people in their quest for self-determination and the need for global intervention to address the issue.
The event also saw participation from the diaspora community, with virtual addresses by figures like Dr. Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai and Lord Mayor Qurban Hussain. These speakers voiced their support for the Kashmiri cause and opposed any attempts to normalize relations with India amidst the ongoing conflict.
Concurrently, the Kashmir Policy Research Institute, with support from the Pakistan Army and the Kashmir Institute of Management, held a seminar emphasizing solidarity with Kashmir’s struggle for freedom. Speakers at the seminar, including Commissioner of Muzaffarabad Division Masood Rehman and Sector Commander ISPR Brigadier Sohail Tariq, urged the United Nations to resolve the Kashmir dispute and end India’s occupation. The seminar reinforced the message that the fight for Kashmir’s self-determination will persist until its realization.
