Srinagar: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe Jammu Martyrs’ Day on November 6, Wednesday, with a steadfast commitment to continue the martyrs’ mission until they secure their right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh, the Indian Army, and Hindutva groups in various parts of the Jammu region while migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947. Each year, November 6 is marked as Jammu Martyrs’ Day to honor the victims of the massacre, with preparations underway to commemorate the day globally and on both sides of the Line of Control.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, anti-India demonstrations, seminars, and symposiums are planned across all ten districts and parts of Pakistan to pay tribute to the Jammu martyrs. Special prayer meetings will be organized by social, political, religious, and public organizations to honor the Kashmiri martyrs. The day will begin with special prayers in mosques for the liberation of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the prosperity of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Quran Khawani sessions will also be held at various locations.
Meanwhile, leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference have issued statements paying tribute to the Jammu martyrs. They reaffirmed the commitment of the Kashmiri people to their struggle for freedom from Indian occupation. The leaders urged the international community to intervene to halt Indian actions in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and to facilitate a resolution to the Kashmir conflict, stating that lasting peace and development in the region cannot be achieved without addressing the Kashmir issue.
