Islamabad, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has declared that Kashmiris around the world will observe India’s Republic Day on January 26 as a black day. This announcement comes as a symbolic protest against the ongoing human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir by India.
According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmiri diaspora in cities such as London, New York, Paris, Brussels, The Hague, Oslo, Berlin, Dublin, and Geneva will participate in protests to draw international attention to the situation in Occupied Kashmir. President Chaudhry emphasized that the Kashmiri people’s struggle for independence would continue undeterred by India’s military might. He mentioned the lockdown and curfew in Occupied Kashmir since August 5, 2019, stating that the Indian government has stripped Kashmiris of their fundamental rights.
The President remarked on the resilience of the Kashmiri people, asserting that no force in the world could weaken their spirit of freedom. He criticized the Indian army’s actions in Kashmir as brutal and stated that the Kashmiri nation would persist in its quest for independence.
Furthermore, President Chaudhry condemned the Indian government’s actions post-August 5, 2019, in Jammu and Kashmir as unacceptable. He accused India of being a fascist and neo-demographic state, posing a threat to the peace and security of South Asia. He called out India’s denial of freedom and self-determination rights in Occupied Kashmir, highlighting the ongoing violence and suppression of democratic human rights.
In his message, President Chaudhry appealed to the United Nations, international community, human rights organizations, and global civil society to intervene against India’s actions in Occupied Kashmir. He urged them to adhere to the United Nations Security Council resolutions and to play a role in resolving the Jammu and Kashmir conflict.
The President’s statement underlines the gravity of the situation in Occupied Kashmir and reflects the sentiment of Kashmiris and their supporters globally. It underscores the determination of the Kashmiri people to continue their struggle for independence from Indian control.
