Kashmiris to Mark Black Day Globally in Protest Against Indian Occupation

Srinagar: Kashmiris across the Line of Control and worldwide are set to observe Black Day tomorrow, highlighting their opposition to India’s long-standing control over Jammu and Kashmir, which they deem illegitimate.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this date marks the anniversary of October 27, 1947, when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir, contravening the Partition Plan and initiating an occupation opposed by the Kashmiri populace.

The observance will include a complete shutdown in the region termed Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Additionally, protest marches, rallies, and seminars are scheduled in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, across Pakistan, and globally to denounce both the initial invasion and the controversial removal of IIOJK’s special status by India’s current government on August 5, 2019. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference, supported by various organizations, has spearheaded the call for these actions.

Efforts to mobilize the populace have seen posters surface in areas including Srinagar, Baramulla, and Pulwama, alongside widespread advocacy through social media platforms like X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, urging participation in the shutdown and voicing resistance against Indian policies.
