Kashmiris to Mark August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal in Protest of Indian Actions

Islamabad: On the directive of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Kashmiris are set to observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, marking their opposition to the actions taken by the Narendra Modi-led Indian government on this day in 2019.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a report released today highlights that the Modi regime’s repeal of the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the imposition of a military siege on August 5, 2019, were in stark violation of United Nations resolutions and international law. The observance of Youm-e-Istehsal is intended to send a clear message globally that Kashmiris reject India’s unlawful occupation and the specific legislative changes enacted on that day.

The report describes August 5, 2019, as a profoundly tragic and dark day for the region, noting it as an assault on the Muslim identity of IIOJK. It criticizes Modi’s policies for facilitating the settlement of non-locals in the region by abrogating Articles 370 and 35A, which has led to significant demographic shifts. Despite these challenges, the report underscores the resilience of Kashmiris in resisting the RSS-backed Modi regime’s designs in IIOJK.
