Kashmiris to Commemorate Accession to Pakistan Day with Renewed Commitment

Srinagar: Kashmiris across both sides of the Line of Control and around the globe are set to mark the Accession to Pakistan Day on July 19, reaffirming their dedication to the plebiscite struggle and the region’s complete integration with Pakistan.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this day holds significant historical importance as it commemorates the decision made on July 19, 1947, when Kashmiri representatives unanimously passed the resolution for Jammu and Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan. This resolution was based on the shared sentiments, religious affiliations, geographical proximity, and cultural and economic ties between Kashmir and Pakistan.

The decision, made a month prior to the formal Partition of British India into India and Pakistan, reflected the Kashmiri people’s preference to align their future with Pakistan, safeguarding their political, religious, and social rights. In connection with this anniversary, the APHC AJK is organizing a major rally in Lahore, while various regions including Srinagar have seen posters emphasizing the day’s importance and the ongoing sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.
