Srinagar, Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and around the world remain steadfast in their struggle for the right to self-determination, a movement that has persisted for over seventy-five years.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Kashmiri people have been resisting India’s illegal occupation since 1947. The report details the severe toll of this ongoing conflict, including the death of over five lakh Kashmiris at the hands of Indian forces, paramilitary, and police personnel. It specifically notes that since 1989, over 96,000 Kashmiris, including men, women, and teenagers, have been martyred, with 7,325 falling victim to custody and fake encounters, and at least 8,000 others subjected to custodial disappearance.
Despite suffering significant losses of life, honor, and property, the Kashmiri people, particularly the youth, continue to sacrifice for their cause. The report emphasizes that the use of brute force and military policies by the Hindutva BJP regime will not succeed in suppressing the voice of the Kashmiris.
The unyielding courage of the IIOJK population in the face of Indian repression is highlighted as a testament to their determination to achieve freedom. The report argues that the international community must acknowledge the right of the Kashmiri people under international law to struggle for freedom from Indian control.
Furthermore, the report asserts that the gross human rights violations committed by Indian forces and their agencies in IIOJK challenge the world’s conscience. It calls for international intervention to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute and to alleviate the suffering of Kashmiris under Indian state terrorism and political injustice since 1947.
