Srinagar: Kashmiris around the world observed Martyrs’ Day today, reaffirming their commitment to continue the struggle initiated by their forebears until they secure their right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the observance was called by the APHC Leadership, which also organized a march to Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar, the burial site of the 1931 martyrs, to honor their memory.
This date commemorates the 1931 massacre where 22 Kashmiris were sequentially shot by the forces of the Dogra Maharaja outside Central Jail in Srinagar for supporting Abdul Qadeer, who opposed Dogra rule. The observance of this day remains a potent symbol of resistance and the historical injustice faced by the Kashmiri people. Additionally, APHC spokesman Adv Abdul Rashid Minhas reiterated the call for the release of all political prisoners, including the Hurriyet leadership, detained in various jails across occupied Kashmir and India.
