Kashmiris Demand Resolution of Dispute Based on International Norms, Says APHC

Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has articulated that the populace of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is advocating for a resolution of the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing their right to self-determination as recognized internationally. This statement underscores the longstanding impasse and its implications for regional and global peace.

According to Kashmir Media Service, an APHC spokesman, in a statement from Srinagar, highlighted that India’s reluctance to engage in a meaningful dialogue over the past seven decades has been a significant barrier to achieving a lasting peace in South Asia and beyond. The spokesman pointed out that Pakistan has consistently called for a peaceful settlement through dialogue, but India’s ongoing hostility and refusal to engage in constructive negotiations have exacerbated tensions and hindered peace efforts in the region.

The APHC criticized the approach of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government towards IIOJK, arguing that India’s policies of repression and its stubborn stance on the Kashmir issue are destined to fail. The organization insists that India must adhere to its commitments made at the United Nations regarding the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

The spokesman further called on the international community and entities dedicated to peace to intervene and support the process of resolving the Kashmir issue. The APHC’s appeal to the United Nations to fulfill its role in accordance with its resolutions reflects the urgency and necessity of international involvement to address this protracted conflict.

This call for action comes amid continuing tensions in IIOJK and underscores the critical need for a diplomatic solution that honors the principles of self-determination and respects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
