Srinagar, October 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the illegally detained Vice Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, has said that the Kashmiris are engaged in a peaceful struggle to secure their internationally-recognized right to self-determination and they will not rest till they achieve their cherished goal.
Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in a message from Srinagar Central Jail said that India’s denial to the Kashmiris’ inalienable right is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic and a violation of the UN Charter. He deplored that India is trying to label the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing freedom from its illegal occupation as terrorism to mislead the world community.
The APHC leader said no amount of Indian state terrorism can force the Kashmiri people to give up their just cause and they will take the ongoing freedom movement to its logical conclusion at all costs. He maintained that Pakistan has always supported the Kashmir cause and this continued support has been a source of encouragement for the oppressed people of IIOJK.
Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar said that the UN must fulfil its responsibilities regarding holding of plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir to enable the Kashmiris to decide their fate by themselves. He added that India must be pressurized by the international community to honour commitments as unresolved Kashmir dispute posed constant threat to the peace of the south Asian region.
Meanwhile, APHC leaders, Khadim Hussain and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi, in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian Home Minister, Amit Shah’s visit to IIOJK was tantamount to rubbing salt to the wounds of oppressed Kashmiris living under the shadow of Indian guns.
They said it was Amit Shah who presented the bill for the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A in the Indian Parliament on August 5, 2019, and since then, the people of the territory have been facing unspeakable hardships.
They said anyone who raises his voice against the Indian persecution in the occupied territory is immediately arrested and put in jail. They stated that Amit Shah has put thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders, activists, students, lawyers, human rights defenders and journalists in prisons and torture centres.
Khadim Hussain and Sibte Shabbir also expressed serious concern about the health of illegally detained APHC leader, Altaf Ahmad Shah, who was recently diagnosed with renal cancer. They demand immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners including Altaf Ahmad Shah.
On the other hand, Democratic Hurriyat Front in a statement issued in Srinagar also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of Altaf Ahmad Shah and other Hurriyat leaders unlawfully detained in various jails of India and IIOJK. It warned that the Modi government will be responsible if anything untoward happened to any Kashmiri detainee.
