Kashmiris are intimidated in the name of bulldozers, draconian laws: IIOJK Congress chief

Srinagar, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):The President of Indian National Congress chapter in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Vikar Rasool Wani, has said that the BJP-led Indian government has created dictatorship in the territory where people are being harassed and intimidated in the name of bulldozers or draconian laws like Public Safety Act. According to Kashmir Media Service, Vikar Rasool Wani addressing a news conference in Srinagar said, while Kashmir is already reeling under acute unemployment, the authorities are adding to the woes of people through demolitions and evictions under the garb of anti-encroachment drive. He added anyone who raises his voice is threatened with arrest.

Vikar Rasool said, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are being pushed into poverty. He said the occupation authorities are bringing down the price of horticulture produce, which has forced some growers to throw their apples into the river or they did not pick the fruit at all. The grower says the price has been lowered to such an extent that the production cost is much more than the returns, he added. The Congress leader also urged the Modi government to immediately restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and hold so-called Assembly polls in the occupied territory.
