Kashmiri Posters Denounce Indian Occupation and High Court Quashes Detentions Under PSA

Karachi, In a significant display of dissent, posters across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have vehemently denounced Indian occupation and policies. Meanwhile, the High Court of IIOJK has quashed the detention of three individuals booked under the controversial Public Safety Act (PSA).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the posters, which have appeared in various parts of the region, declare that the Kashmiri people have never accepted India’s occupation, asserting that Kashmir is an international dispute recognized by the United Nations, not an internal issue of India. The posters criticize India for disregarding Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as per UN resolutions and accuse the Indian judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, of bias in its verdict on Article 370. They claim the judiciary is acting under the influence of the RSS and BJP, validating India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a related development, the High Court of IIOJK has overturned the detentions of three individuals, Aqib Zahoor Ganie of Budgam, Khursheed Ahmad Sanaie of Budgam, and Ashiq Hussain Butt of Srinagar, who were booked under the PSA. Justice M A Chaudhry quashed the detention order against Ganie, issued by the District Magistrate of Budgam on April 15, 2022, while Justice Sanjay Dhar quashed the detention orders of Sanaie, booked on September 20, 2022, and Butt, taken into custody on April 7, 2022, by the District Magistrate of Srinagar.

These events highlight the ongoing tensions in IIOJK, with the local population expressing strong opposition to Indian policies and actions. The High Court’s decisions to quash the PSA detentions also shed light on the contentious use of this law in the region.
