Brussels, July 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has said that the Kashmiri martyrs of 13 July 1931 made a great history of sacrifices. The KCEU Chairman was addressing a gathering in Brussels on the martyrdom anniversary of the Kashmiri martyrs of 13 July 1931. He said, by rendering their blood, these martyrs laid the foundation of the Kashmir freedom movement. The gathering was arranged by KCEU at its secretariat.
It is important to mention here that on 13 July 1931, a large number of Kashmiris had gathered outside the central jail in Srinagar to witness the trial of one Abdul Qadeer. Then the Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir ordered his soldiers to open fire on them and in total 22 Kashmiris died in the firing. Ali Raza called upon the international community and the European Union to play their role for implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir that gave the right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people. He urged India to withdraw of its troops and stop its state terrorism in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Other speakers said, the atrocities committed by the Indian troops against the oppressed Kashmiris had been going on unabated for the last over seven decades but these brutalities witnessed an alarming upsurge after the Narendra Modi-led Indian regime revoked special status of the occupied territory in August 2019. They demanded unconditional release of all Kashmiri prisoners including political figures and human rights defenders like Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Khurram Parvez. They also appealed to the international community to play its role for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
