Kashmiri Leaders Invoke Karbala Martyrs in Call Against Oppression

Srinagar: Senior leaders from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, have invoked the legacy of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala as symbols of resistance against oppression and tyranny, aligning their struggle with historical calls for justice and truth.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq articulated this sentiment in a statement made in Srinagar, celebrating the enduring impact of Hazrat Imam Hussain’s sacrifices, which he noted as a guiding light for truth-seekers against despotism until the end of time. Farooq emphasized that Imam Hussain’s refusal to yield before tyrants offers a beacon of inspiration for those fighting against injustice globally.

Other organizations, including the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom and Tehreek Wahdat-e-Islami, echoed these sentiments. They paid homage to the spiritual and moral victory of the Karbala martyrs, underscoring their relevance in contemporary struggles against injustice, particularly in contexts like Kashmir and Palestine. Leaders highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by Muslims in these regions due to external pressures from nationalist and Zionist agendas.

The statement also featured remarks from imprisoned leaders Fayaz Hussain Jafri and Syed Sibt Shabbir Qumm, who criticized the actions of the Indian and Israeli governments, drawing parallels with the historical oppressors faced by Imam Hussain. They affirmed the resolve of Kashmiri Muslims to continue their resistance, inspired by Hussain’s legacy, against what they perceive as the modern-day manifestations of tyranny.

These expressions of solidarity and resistance underline a profound connection with the historical narrative of Karbala, serving as both spiritual motivation and a call to action for the followers and leaders within the Kashmiri resistance movements.
