Kashmiri Leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz Honored on 16th Martyrdom Anniversary

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and various pro-freedom organizations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) are commemorating the 16th martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, a pivotal figure in the Kashmiri self-determination movement.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Sheikh Aziz was killed by Indian forces on August 11, 2008, during a significant march to Azad Kashmir, which he led in protest against an economic blockade enforced by extremists in Jammu. His death marked a significant moment in Kashmiri resistance, galvanizing further opposition against Indian rule. The APHC has organized special prayer meetings for Sunday to honor Sheikh Aziz and others who have perished in the struggle for Kashmiri rights.

Leaders within the APHC, including prominent figures and organizations, have reiterated their commitment to continue the resistance until Kashmir’s full autonomy is realized. They recall the 2008 protests as a critical point in their history, vowing that the sacrifices made will not be forgotten.
