New Delhi, May 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):News agency Reuters’ photographers Danish Siddiqui (late), Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo and Amit Dave won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for feature photography for their powerful images of India’s COVID-19 toll. The awards are “for images of COVID’s toll in India that balanced intimacy and devastation, while offering viewers a heightened sense of place,” the organisers said.
Sanna Irshad Mattoo, is a Srinagar based Kashmiri photojournalist who has been covering situations across the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and it proves that the world is recognising that Kashmir has professional journalists and it’s an answer to those who humiliate, intimidate and harass Journalists across the occupied territory.

Siddiqui who used to lead the national Reuters multimedia team had received his first Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2018 as part of the Reuters team, for documenting the Rohingya refugee crisis. In 2021, he was killed while covering situation in Afghanistan. For Adnan, this is his third Pulitzer Prize. He was a two-time Pulitzer prize winner as part of Reuters’ photography team.
