Highland: At a significant gathering in Maryland, US, Kashmiri diaspora organizations and individuals from both the United States and Canada underscored the urgent need for unity and a consolidated effort to address the ongoing Kashmir dispute.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the event was hosted by Sardar Zulfiqar Roshan Khan, who emphasized the collective identity of the attendees, stating, “we all belong to one party, and that is Kashmir.” The meeting featured prominent figures such as Dr. Touqeer Gilani, a leader from JKLF, who called on the diaspora to adopt forward-thinking strategies and unite under a single platform dedicated to self-determination.
Further discussions were led by Dr. Imtiaz Khan, who highlighted the active involvement of the Azad Kashmiri diaspora and the need for a meticulous approach to strategy and action. Advocate Sardar Anwar advocated for the release of Yasin Malik, the chairman of JKLF, underscoring the right to self-determination as a fundamental issue.
Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai raised concerns about the potential for genocide in Kashmir, emphasizing the necessity for international public opinion and concerted leadership efforts to prevent such an outcome. The assembly stressed the importance of unity, strategic planning, and joint actions to pursue freedom and self-determination for Kashmir.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude for the hospitality provided and prayers for the swift recovery of Sardar Zarif Khan Sahib and Sardar Sawar Khan Sahib.
