Islamabad: All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK chapter Convener, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, has criticized the condition of children in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), alleging that Indian authorities are carrying out a systematic campaign of oppression.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Safi, in a statement issued in Islamabad on the occasion of World Children’s Day, highlighted that while the global community dedicates this day to uphold children’s rights, Kashmiri children continue to be deprived of basic freedoms and protections promised under the UN Charter. The Hurriyat leader accused Indian forces of subjecting minors in IIOJK to widespread abuse and inhumane treatment, urging the global community, including the United Nations, human rights organizations, and child protection agencies, to intervene.
Safi claimed that Indian soldiers have, over the past three decades, caused the deaths of numerous parents of Kashmiri children through fake encounters and custodial killings. He described these acts as part of a deliberate conspiracy by the Indian government against Kashmiri children.
He further emphasized the severe impacts of the alleged brutality, noting the orphaning of thousands of children, the blinding and permanent injuries caused by pellet guns, and the psychological damage due to the violence experienced by losing their parents.
Safi concluded by urging the international community to advocate for a resolution to the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people. He reiterated that resolving the conflict is essential to alleviate the suffering of children and the broader Kashmiri population.
