Kashmiri Candidates’ Success in UK Elections Hailed by Azad Jammu and Kashmir President

Islamabad: President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, lauded the significant electoral victories of candidates of Kashmiri origin in the recent British elections, highlighting their potential role in advocating for Kashmiri rights in the British Parliament. He expressed his hope that these elected representatives would actively address and potentially resolve issues pertaining to Kashmir and the ongoing struggles in Occupied Kashmir.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, “The election results are not only a testament to the political influence of the Kashmiri community in Britain but also a reflection of their commitment to championing Kashmiri and Palestinian causes on a global stage.” President Chaudhry noted that he has been an active participant in campaigning for candidates in previous UK elections and regretted his absence this time due to commitments in his own state. He praised the efforts of the Kashmiri community in Britain for their role in bringing a substantial number of Kashmiri-origin candidates into the British Parliament and expressed his congratulations to the Labour Party for its significant electoral win.

President Chaudhry remains optimistic about the Labour Party’s role in addressing the Kashmir issue, and he expects that the newly established All Parties Kashmir Committee in the British Parliament will intensify efforts against the ongoing atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. He reiterated his congratulations to the newly elected members of Parliament of Kashmiri and Pakistani origin and commended their dedication to representing the Kashmiri community effectively.
