Islamabad, In a significant event highlighting the shared struggles of Kashmir and Palestine, Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Chairman of the Kashmir-Palestine Solidarity Forum and former Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, hosted the Kashmir-Palestine Solidarity Conference. The conference brought to light the dire situation in Gaza and called for unity and support from the Muslim world.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Palestinian leader Dr. Khaled Qadumi, in his address, detailed the extensive damage inflicted on Gaza by Israeli bombings, stating that 70% of the region has been destroyed. He reported the martyrdom of 40,000 Palestinians and severe injuries to 76,000 others, with Israeli forces specifically targeting medical professionals, leading to the arrest and martyrdom of Palestinian doctors.
Dr. Qadumi emphasized the critical humanitarian crisis, with over 2.2 million Palestinians rendered homeless and the Rafah crossing’s insufficient capacity to meet the daily needs for aid, underscoring Israel’s use of hunger as a weapon. He called upon Muslims globally to advocate for the freedom of Palestine, framing the Palestinian struggle as a fight for the survival of the entire Ummah.
The conference also featured remarks from Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan, a former Prime Minister, who urged Muslim nations to deploy troops to restore peace in Gaza and warned of the escalating state terrorism by Israel. He drew parallels between the occupations of Palestine and Kashmir, cautioning that without intervention, Kashmir could face a similar fate as Gaza.
Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq Khan, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Azad Jammu and Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan, declared the solidarity of 2 crore Kashmiris with their Palestinian counterparts, expressing confidence in Palestine’s eventual liberation.
The event, which also saw contributions from Asif Luqman Qazi, Ghulam Mohammad Safi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Raja Khalid, and Javed Arif Abbasi, highlighted the interconnectedness of the Kashmiri and Palestinian causes, calling for increased international support and intervention to address these protracted conflicts.
