Kashmir Marks Third Martyrdom Anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani Amid Calls for Justice

Srinagar: Today marks the third anniversary of the death of Syed Ali Gilani, a prominent leader of the Hurriyat Conference and a pivotal figure in the Kashmir resistance movement. Gilani, who died under house arrest on September 1, 2021, is remembered for his enduring contributions to the Kashmiri struggle for autonomy.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a call to the Kashmiri Diaspora to organize peaceful demonstrations globally to draw attention to ongoing human rights violations in the region by Indian forces. These demonstrations aim to continue Gilani’s legacy of resistance and highlight the persistent issue of Indian brutality in Kashmir.

Incarcerated APHC Chairman Masarat Aalam Butt, currently held in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, released a message asserting that India’s efforts to suppress the Kashmiri will for freedom would not prevail. Posters urging the public to remember Gilani and to honor the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs have been distributed widely throughout Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Events including public gatherings, seminars, and rallies are scheduled throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir, coordinated by various organizations such as the Kashmir Liberation Commission, Pasban e Hurriyat, and educational institutions. These events will pay tribute to Gilani’s famous proclamation, ‘Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai,’ reinforcing his message of solidarity and resistance.
