Kashmir Institutes to Be Established in All Azad Kashmir Universities, Says President Chaudhry

Islamabad, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry announced the establishment of Kashmir Institutes in every university across Azad Kashmir, aiming to deepen the academic understanding of the Kashmir issue among students.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, these institutes will serve as crucial academic centers to enhance awareness and educate about the historical and political contexts of the Kashmir conflict, especially at a time when global advocacy and political engagement are deemed necessary. President Chaudhry highlighted the ongoing challenges in the region, criticizing the actions of the Indian government in Occupied Kashmir as severe violations of international law, including systematic genocide and war crimes against the Kashmiri people.

The president detailed the severe measures imposed by India, such as the daily killings in fake encounters and the demographic changes through the settling of non-Kashmiri populations in the region, describing these acts as a direct threat to the peace and stability of the area. He urged the international community to recognize and respond to these transgressions as crimes against humanity.

On the academic front, President Chaudhry’s directive to integrate Kashmir studies into the curriculum of Azad Kashmir’s universities underscores a strategic move to align educational initiatives with the broader political struggle for Kashmiri self-determination and rights, recognized in several United Nations resolutions.

The meeting, which also included key educational and political figures, reinforced the commitment to using education as a tool for international advocacy and local empowerment regarding the Kashmir issue.
