Brussels: The Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) is set to hold a protest demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Brussels on October 27, commemorating the date of India’s military entry into Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.
According to Kashmir Media Service, KC-EU Chairman Ali Raza Syed called for India to end its occupation and recognize the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The demonstration, scheduled for 2:00 pm this Sunday, is expected to draw a substantial crowd of Kashmiris and their supporters, alongside participation from various non-governmental Kashmiri organizations across Europe.
Syed labeled October 27, 1947, as “the darkest day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir,” criticizing India’s actions as a breach of international norms and human values. “By staging this protest, we want to send a message to the Indian government that Kashmiris do not accept India’s illegal occupation and the Kashmiri people want to decide their future in a free environment,” he stated.
Syed also criticized India’s claim of being the largest democracy in the world while allegedly suppressing the rights of Kashmiris and called on global powers to support the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.
