Srinagar, The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has highlighted that the Kashmir issue remains one of the oldest disputes pending before the United Nations, having persisted for over seven decades and resulting in significant loss of human lives.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman, in a statement issued in Srinagar, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime in India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for its extreme measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The spokesperson accused the Indian government of having exceeded all bounds of state terrorism in the region, which has been a disputed territory since India’s military invasion in 1947.
The spokesman commended Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar for his unwavering support to the Kashmiri people. He appreciated Kakar’s recent statements rejecting the verdict of the Indian Supreme Court and addressing the special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, reaffirming Pakistan’s moral, political, and diplomatic backing for the Kashmir cause.
The APHC also condemned the harsh treatment of Kashmiri freedom activists by Indian forces in the occupied territory. The spokesman reiterated that India’s ongoing refusal to engage in dialogue remains the primary obstacle to resolving the longstanding conflict. Despite the challenges posed by Indian state terrorism, the APHC reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s determination to continue their freedom movement until achieving their desired outcome.
The spokesman appealed to the international community to exert pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations resolutions.
In a separate statement issued in Islamabad, the APCH-AJK expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar for his commitment to supporting the just struggle of the Kashmiri people.
