Kashmir Black Day observed in France

Islamabad, October 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):An event was organized at the Embassy here today to observe the Kashmir Black Day, which was attended by members of the French civil society and media as well as Pakistani and Kashmiri communities in Paris, says a press release received here today from Paris. Messages of President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out to the audience. A documentary highlighting the plight of Kashmiris living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) was also screened on the occasion.

Charge d’Affaires, a.i. Mr. M. Amjad Aziz Qazi noted that 74 years ago Indian security forces occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir against the wishes of the Kashmiri people and in violation of international law and humanitarian norms.

Mr. Qazi emphasized that the illegal and unilateral actions of Indian government taken on August 5, 2019, under which the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked are in violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. International media and human rights organizations have been highlighting the gross human rights violations committed by India in IIOJK, he added.

He stressed that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris in their just and legitimate struggle for the right of self-determination, in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions. Speakers from the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities expressed their emotions and reiterated their resolve to keep supporting the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination.

Speaking on the occasion, a French journalist shared her experience of visiting Azad Jammu and Kashmir and said that life there seemed normal, which was in contrast with the atrocities in IIOJK. A photographic exhibition was also held at the chancery, in which photographs highlighting the plight of Kashmiris in IIOJK suffering under Indian military siege, were put on display.
