KARACHI: In a bid to tackle the longstanding civic issues of Karachi, Karamullah Waqasi, spokesperson for the Mayor of Karachi and Parliamentary Leader of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, emphasized the importance of continuous development projects across the city. He pointed out that ongoing construction and rehabilitation efforts, such as the development of a significant road in Baldia Town and improvements in recreational facilities, are part of a broader strategy to enhance urban life in the metropolis.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, these initiatives are directed by Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and aim to address basic civic challenges. The construction of the road from Degree College to 19-D Road in Baldia Town is expected to alleviate commuting difficulties and improve daily life for residents. Waqasi noted that these developments, particularly the commencement of road rehabilitation after a decade, are crucial for meeting current public needs.
Waqasi further stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is committed to urban development and public service without discrimination, reflecting its policy objectives. The PPP, alongside Mayor Wahab, is focusing on a phased approach to resolve Karachi’s infrastructure problems, including roads, water supply, drainage, and parks, to cater to the city’s extensive needs.
Efforts are also being made to enhance the environment around the city. A new park in the Mosque Hasanat Park, Quetta Town, UC-2, Sohrab Goth area, is nearing completion, promising recreational benefits for local communities. Waqasi assured that the quality of development projects remains a priority, requiring consistent planning and collaboration among various entities.
Acknowledging the critical issues of water supply and drainage, he mentioned that ongoing projects in these sectors are vital for future urban demands. The introduction of recycled water in industrial areas is a step towards better resource management and conservation of clean water for essential uses. The PPP’s dedication to improving Karachi’s infrastructure is evident in its efforts to make the city more organized and well-equipped under the guidance of Mayor Wahab.
