Karachi: In a significant move to bolster sports in Sindh, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has confirmed that Karachi will host the 35th National Games in 2025. The announcement was made following a high-level meeting with the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) at the CM House.

The meeting was attended by POA President Arif Saeed, Senior Vice President Ms. Fatima Lahori, Secretary General Khalid Mehmood, and Sindh Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput. Other key attendees included Principal Secretary to the CM, Agha Wasif, and Sports Secretary Aleem Laghari. During the session, Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari provided an overview of the preparations and logistics underway for the event.

Scheduled from December 6 to 13, 2025, the games aim to meet international standards, with the Chief Minister pledging full support. Shah instructed relevant departments to ensure athletes receive necessary facilities, including training, medical care, and transportation.

A notable development is the construction of a new swimming pool and the acquisition of modern electronic timing and scoring systems. An MoU has been signed between the POA, the Government of Sindh, and the Sindh Olympic Association to ensure coordinated efforts in organizing the games.

“This initiative will be a milestone for athlete welfare and institutional coordination,” Shah remarked, highlighting the need to nurture young talent and foster interest in sports across Sindh.

Arif Saeed, President of the POA, provided insights into the history of the National Games and commended the government’s commitment. He noted the renewed enthusiasm among athletes nationwide for the upcoming event.

Both the Sindh Government and the POA reiterated their dedication to enhancing athlete performance and making the 35th National Games a landmark in Pakistan’s sporting history.
