Karachi, In a significant meeting presided over by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, the Sindh Police discussed extensive reforms and upgrades to its investigation and legal departments. The gathering aimed to refine the procedures and enhance the capabilities of law enforcement in handling criminal investigations.
According to Sindh Police, the meeting featured in-depth discussions on proposals that could potentially reshape how police investigations are conducted in the region. High-ranking officials, including DIGs from various branches and AIGs, gathered at the Central Police Office in Karachi to deliberate on these initiatives. One of the key proposals from the Crime and Investigation Committee was to link the promotion of investigation officers and Station House Officers (SHOs) to their success in solving cases, which is expected to boost both investigative and operational effectiveness significantly.
IG Sindh emphasized the need for comprehensive proposals to increase the efficiency and resources of the investigation and legal departments. He highlighted the importance of implementing concrete measures to plan investigation cases by promoting officers based on their performance in solving cases.
Another critical focus of the meeting was the protection of complainants and witnesses, aiming to secure evidence effectively and ensure the successful conclusion of investigations. Additionally, IG Sindh announced plans to recruit 400 prosecutors who will work closely with police investigators to strengthen case outcomes. He also mentioned the introduction of an automation system to expedite the process of forwarding FIRs to prosecutors immediately after case registration.
The Sindh government has reportedly assured full support and assistance to every police department, reinforcing the police’s role and respect within the community.
