Karachi, In a significant move to enhance law enforcement efficiency and public safety, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon presided over a meeting to discuss the strengthening of the policing process and the implementation of necessary reforms across police stations. The session, held at the Central Police Office Karachi, saw the participation of high-ranking officers who collectively pushed forward a set of consensus-driven reforms.
According to Sindh Police, during the meeting, Additional IG Operations, DIG Headquarters, Establishment, Admin Karachi, and other senior officers provided insights into the current challenges and proposed strategic solutions aimed at reshaping policing in Karachi. They highlighted the meeting’s agenda focused on refining the operations of police stations to better serve public interests.
DIG Establishment Syed Pir Mohammad Shah, in his briefing, emphasized the importance of deploying police officers through police stations to enhance area patrolling and monitoring. He suggested that a robust presence on streets, neighborhoods, and highways would significantly contribute to crime prevention.
Further discussions led by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon addressed the need for a thorough review and potentially reevaluating the number and distribution of police stations. Memon directed the officials to prepare detailed recommendations on this matter, including assessments of vehicle and other logistical resources.
The IG also underscored the necessity of upgrading the 15-Madadgar (emergency response service) using modern technology to ensure timely responses and effective redressal of public complaints. To bolster these efforts, he announced the provision of heavy bikes to aid in rapid response and enhance capabilities in crime suppression and public protection.
Additionally, Memon revealed plans to station a large contingent of the newly recruited 11,000 personnel across various police stations to solidify the framework of station-level policing. He called for the creation of a unified mechanism for the ongoing development of police officers and personnel, aiming to bring uniformity and systematic growth within the department. He also proposed the creation of additional posts in various ranks to accommodate officers, constables, and other personnel awaiting departmental promotions across all ranges.
These initiatives mark a crucial step towards reinvigorating the police force in Karachi and improving its effectiveness in maintaining law and order, as well as safeguarding the rights and safety of the community it serves.
