Karachi, In a significant move to modernize and streamline crime management, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting to discuss the reorganization and digitization of the Crime and Investigation Unit. This meeting, held at the Central Police Office in Karachi, included high-ranking officials such as the Additional IG Operations, DIG Crime and Investigations, and other key police officers.
According to Sindh Police, the reorganization aims to incorporate substantial reforms that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of crime handling within the region. During the meeting, DIG Crime and Investigations highlighted the need for digitization to manage the responsibilities related to crime and investigations more effectively. This comes in response to the province recording approximately 20,000 serious crime cases in the previous year.
IG Memon emphasized that digitizing crime investigation processes is crucial for achieving successful outcomes and logical conclusions of cases. He pointed out that enhancing technical capabilities across all facets of crime investigation would not only strengthen the criminal justice system but also significantly increase the conviction rates.
The digitization initiative will involve recording cases in a central data bank, making them readily accessible and manageable. This strategic move is expected to bring about a transformative change in how criminal cases are handled, ensuring a faster and more transparent process.
IG Memon directed the Crime and Investigations Unit to prioritize the digitization of serious cases in its first phase of implementation, marking a pivotal step towards modernizing police operations and improving public safety in Karachi.
