Karachi: Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, commended the security measures implemented during the Benazir Kafalat program’s quarterly payments in a meeting today with Provincial Law Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar. The discussions underscored the importance of security and transparency in the distribution of financial aid to over 2.5 million deserving women across Sindh.
According to Press Information Department, Senator Khalid expressed appreciation for the meticulous security arrangements that safeguarded the quarterly disbursements. These measures align with President Asif Ali Zardari’s directives to execute the payments in a dignified and transparent manner. She also requested an increase in the deployment of women police officers during future distributions to further enhance transparency and security.
Additionally, Senator Khalid advocated for stringent actions against fraudulent activities, such as false surveys or illegitimate claims under the BISP’s name. Provincial Law Minister Lanjar affirmed his commitment to supporting these initiatives, ensuring continued cooperation to protect the integrity of the program. Plans are underway, involving DIG Fida Hussain Mastoi and DG Sindh BISP Zulfiqar Ali Shah, to refine the strategy for the upcoming payment cycle under the Benazir Kafalat Programme.
