Karachi Municipality Council to Convene for Agenda-packed Meeting


Karachi, The Karachi Municipal Corporation is set to hold an adjourned general meeting of its Council on Thursday, March 7, 2024, under the leadership of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab. Scheduled for 2:30 PM at the Council Hall, Jamshed Nasrwanji Building on MA Jinnah Road, the meeting promises a comprehensive agenda aimed at enhancing the city’s services and infrastructure.



According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the agenda for the upcoming session includes several key initiatives. Noteworthy among these is the awarding of the “Tamagha Karachi with cash reward” to individuals who have significantly contributed to the city. The council will also discuss improvements to the Municipal Corporation’s hospital services through public-private partnerships, alongside proposals for park renovations and the installation of solar systems.



The meeting will address the operations of the Charged Parking Department, including the review of parking fees collected by the Municipal Corporation Karachi. Additionally, it will consider the upgradation and re-designation of Program Officer vacancies from BS-17 to BS-18, reflecting a shift in the administrative structure.



Other notable agenda items include renaming the Pediatric Department at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital as the Wasila Jahan Pediatric Department, discussing the appointment methods for the Deputy Mayor’s Secretariat and the Financial Advisor’s Office, and proposing changes to enhance the City Institute of Image Management (CIIM). A key financial discussion will revolve around increasing the funds in the existing interest account, subject to council approval.



The meeting is also expected to cover a variety of other matters with the chairman’s permission, aiming to address the multifaceted needs of Karachi’s municipal services and governance.
