Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Responds Quickly to Restaurant Fire in Sindhi Muslim Society

Karachi: A fire that erupted in the Food Inn restaurant located in Sindhi Muslim Society was effectively controlled and extinguished by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s fire brigade under the supervision of Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad on Thursday. The fire brigade’s prompt response prevented the fire from spreading beyond the affected building.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Deputy Mayor Murad oversaw the firefighting efforts personally and maintained close communication with the responding teams. The operation involved eight fire brigade vehicles and a snorkel to manage the blaze, which had intensified due to the building’s wooden construction and possibly started from a short circuit on the first floor, where repairs were ongoing. Thankfully, the restaurant’s kitchen and rooftop areas were spared from the fire.

Deputy Mayor Murad emphasized the necessity for buildings, particularly those housing hotels and restaurants, to be equipped with adequate fire safety measures. He assured that the fire brigade department is actively working to ensure all such buildings are prepared with necessary fire-fighting equipment to protect lives and minimize property damage. He also highlighted the strategic placement of fire brigades throughout the city, including residential, commercial, and industrial zones, to ensure swift responses to emergencies. This initiative is part of a broader effort coordinated with local business and industrial associations to enhance safety measures across Karachi.
