Karachi, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab expressed his appreciation for the organization of the 29th World Mushaira in Karachi, emphasizing that such events help cultivate academic and literary interests among citizens and foster positive thinking. He noted that academic and literary activities have been part of Karachi’s long-standing tradition and that the city’s residents have always supported and encouraged these initiatives.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab made these remarks while participating in the 29th International Mushaira held at the Expo Center Karachi. The event saw the presence of several prominent figures, including Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, and renowned poets like Iftikhar Arif, Prof. Sahar Ansari, Dr. Pirzada Qasim, and Anwar Shibat. Other notable attendees included Senator Abdul Haseeb, Chief Organizer of the program Mahmood Ahmed Khan, and Coordinator for International Mushaira Ali Hassan Sajid.
Mayor Wahab congratulated the organizers of the event and noted the large turnout from all walks of life, highlighting that the people of Karachi value quality literary activities and consider it an honor to participate in them. He expressed hope that the series of international Mushairas in Karachi would continue in the future, with efforts to ensure greater participation from local and international poets and guests from other cities in Pakistan.
The mayor also assured that the Karachi Municipality would extend all possible cooperation to support such events, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the city’s literary traditions for the benefit of future generations.
