Karachi Mayor Reviews Jinnah Bridge and Mewa Shah Qabrustan Roadworks, Emphasizes No Compromise on Quality

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction on the Jinnah Bridge and the road leading to Mewa Shah Qabrustan, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining high standards in public works. The Mayor highlighted that these efforts are part of fulfilling the promises made by Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, ensuring significant investment in the city’s infrastructure.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Sindh government has allocated 218 billion rupees specifically for the development and progress of Karachi, which includes major restorations and repairs of roads and streetlights. Mayor Wahab directed the engineering department to uphold the highest quality standards and avoid any compromises, indicating that contractors delivering substandard work would face blacklisting.

During his visit, which also included Provincial Assembly Member Asif Khan and other notable officials, Mayor Wahab reviewed the critical repairs and resurfacing work on the Jinnah Bridge—a vital artery in South District experiencing considerable traffic. He also evaluated the newly constructed road to Mewa Shah Qabrustan, emphasizing the importance of this road for community access during significant cultural and religious occasions.

Mayor Wahab reassured that alongside these specific projects, the restoration of streetlights and improvement of general infrastructure across Karachi are being prioritized to enhance safety and aesthetics in the city. He also recognized the improved collaboration among various urban bodies, which is now facilitating a more coordinated approach to city management and development.
