Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Defends City’s Healthcare Developments Against Governor’s Criticism

Karachi, In a robust response to criticism from Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the commitment of his administration to service rather than criticism, highlighting significant healthcare advancements in the city under the Pakistan People’s Party’s leadership.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab refuted Governor Tessori’s claims by pointing out the notable health facilities established in the province, including advancements like the cyber knife at Jinnah Hospital. He credited these developments to the vision of Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the efforts of the Sindh government. This includes enhancements in cardiology, the establishment of the Trauma Center, Gumit, and other modern health facilities.

Wahab further commented on the historical significance of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, established fifty years ago by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He criticized the previous administration, affiliated with Governor Tessori’s political party, for the deterioration of the hospital’s conditions during their tenure. Mayor Wahab challenged the governor to confront the previous mayor about the hospital’s decline before levying criticism at others.

The mayor’s statements were a direct response to Governor Tessori’s recent criticism, defending the current administration’s efforts in healthcare and pointing out the failures of previous administrations. Wahab’s remarks underscored a broader political dialogue about responsibility and accountability in the management of Karachi’s public institutions, especially in healthcare.
