Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the Hemophilia Treatment Center at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, marking a significant step in improving healthcare services. The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, and other local officials.
According to a statement by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He stated that the vision of the Pakistan People’s Party is to provide modern healthcare without discrimination, supported by public-private partnerships.
Mayor Wahab highlighted the historical significance of the hospital, a gift from former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1974, now serving hundreds of patients. The newly established Hemophilia Treatment Center adds to the hospital’s offerings, including lab tests, CT scans, and surgical services.
The Mayor acknowledged past neglect of the hospital but expressed satisfaction with its revival. Improvements have been made in various departments, including the mortuary and dental facilities. He reiterated the commitment to serve all residents of Karachi without bias or favoritism.
Efforts are underway to equip Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and other KMC hospitals with modern medical facilities. Mayor Wahab noted that residents of District West now have access to essential medical services locally, reducing the need to travel to Jinnah Hospital.
Mayor Wahab assured that water and sewerage issues would be addressed soon, revealing that repairs to water leakage sites are nearly complete. He called for mutual understanding between the Sindh and federal governments to resolve public issues.
During his visit, the Mayor interacted with patients at the Hemophilia Treatment Ward, ensuring them of the best possible medical care.
