Karachi, Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of a new girls’ college in Allahwala Town, Korangi. The event marks a significant step towards enhancing educational facilities for girls in the region.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab, during the ceremony, emphasized the city’s transformation from a past dominated by fear and territorial control to a present focused on development and education. He highlighted the upcoming elections on February 8, expressing confidence in the success of his party, led by Bilawal Bhutto. Wahab stressed the importance of having the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and Mayor from the same party to effectively address the city’s challenges.
The mayor also discussed the significance of the new college, noting that it would not only provide better educational opportunities for girls in Korangi but also prevent land grabbing. The college will include a secondary school, making higher education more accessible to local students.
Wahab addressed various city development issues, including infrastructure restoration, park renovations, and storm water drain improvements. He criticized past administrations for failing to develop the city and highlighted the PPP’s ongoing projects, such as the construction of a new flyover on Korangi Causeway and the Malir expressway.
The mayor also mentioned the recent initiative to cover open gutters and questioned the funding sources of his political opponents. He called for a move away from criticism-focused politics towards a focus on construction and development, echoing Bilawal Bhutto’s sentiment that the people and state of Pakistan are of utmost importance.
The event was attended by Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, Vice Chairman Zareen Awan, Dr. Tahir Khan, and other public representatives and officials.
