Karachi Mayor Highlights Kashmir’s Plight on Exploitation Day Rally

Karachi: On Kashmir Exploitation Day, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized the ongoing illegal actions against Kashmir’s right to self-determination, marking the events of August 5, 2019, as a disregard for international laws and a violation of human rights. The rally organized by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation aimed to voice solidarity with the Kashmiri struggle for independence and condemn India’s actions.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the mayor addressed a large gathering including Municipal Commissioner SM Afzal Zaidi, various department heads, and citizens, articulating that the state of Kashmir has experienced unparalleled cruelty due to the abrogation of its disputed status through Article 370. He highlighted the decades-long suffering of Kashmiris under Indian oppression and criticized the global community’s failure to intervene effectively.

Barrister Wahab pointed out that the City of Karachi stands united with Kashmir, supporting their fight for freedom and opposing the amendments made by India to the Indian Constitution which suppress Kashmiri rights. The mayor stressed the necessity for the repeal of these amendments and underscored the past five years as a period of heightened oppression and brutality against Kashmiris.

The event also marked a global call to action, with various organizations and activists worldwide hosting events and discussions to shed light on the human rights violations and economic difficulties faced by Kashmiris. The efforts aim to foster international solidarity, encourage dialogue, and seek reforms that prioritize the welfare and rights of the Kashmiri people.
