Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab Addresses Press Conference at Frere Hall

Karachi, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the hard-earned peace in the city should not be disrupted and urged against allowing any attempts to disturb law and order. Speaking at a press conference held at Frere Hall, Mayor Karachi addressed the issue of maintaining peace and security in the city.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Mohammad, and other local leaders, Mayor Karachi stressed that Karachi had endured enough turmoil in the past, and the current atmosphere of peace should prevail.

Mayor Wahab asserted that no one should be permitted to take the law into their own hands, and any individual engaging in such actions should face legal consequences. He expressed disappointment over attempts to disrupt law and order and recalled the dark days of the 1990s when Karachi faced extortion, arson, and violence.

He urged the police to play a more proactive role in maintaining law and order, emphasizing that no one should be allowed to spread terror or disturb the peace in the city. He stressed the need for accountability and legal action against those who violate the law.

Mayor Karachi also mentioned that Karachi’s citizens should decide whether they want a city that functions effectively or one that does not. He called on the caretaker chief minister, the home minister, and police authorities to address the deteriorating situation and provide security to the public so that citizens can freely vote for their preferred candidates.

Mayor Wahab noted that some individuals are engaging in political blame games, and he urged the Election Commission to take notice of such provocations. He emphasized that the citizens would decide the future of Karachi and called for a free and fair electoral process.

In response to a question, Mayor Karachi addressed the issue of political parties using Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) properties for their banners and posters. He urged these parties to pay rent to KMC for using its properties. He also highlighted incidents where KMC staff was attacked while trying to remove political flags from the city.

Mayor Wahab reaffirmed his commitment to serving the city and solving its problems, expressing optimism that free and fair elections would lead to real representatives in the assembly and bring about positive change.
