Karachi Mayor Announces Preparedness Measures for Expected March Rains

Karachi, In anticipation of unusual March rains attributed to climate change, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has outlined comprehensive preparedness measures in a recent video message. The Mayor emphasized the coordination between various municipal entities to tackle the expected challenges, including the clearing of choke points in drainage systems.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab detailed the strategic efforts undertaken by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Sindh Solid Waste Management Board, and Water Corporation to mitigate the impact of the rains on urban life. Highlighting the rarity of such weather conditions in March, he attributed the phenomenon to global climate change, underscoring the city’s proactive response to these unprecedented circumstances.

The Mayor announced the cancellation of leaves for relevant officers and staff across KMC and related institutions, ensuring their presence on the ground to address any issues promptly. The aim, as stated by Mayor Wahab, is to minimize disruptions to the lives of Karachi’s residents and provide immediate relief wherever problems arise.

This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its citizens during adverse weather conditions and demonstrates the concerted effort by municipal bodies to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change.
