Karachi Mayor Announces New Cemetery Facilities Ahead of Shab-e-Baraat

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced that arrangements have been made to facilitate citizens visiting cemeteries on Shab-e-Baraat. Municipal institutions are on alert, with city wardens ensuring smooth traffic flow to aid visitors in reaching cemeteries to offer prayers.

According to a statement by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab emphasized the responsibility of providing facilities for the influx of visitors during Shab-e-Baraat. Cemeteries managed by KMC are now equipped with cleanliness, water, and lighting. The Mayor also addressed the issue of overcharging for burial services, urging citizens to report any violations.

Mayor Wahab revealed plans for constructing two new cemeteries, focusing on pathways, trees, and water facilities. The construction is set to begin promptly. KMC has also established complaint centers and reception camps outside the cemeteries to address any concerns.

During his visit to various cemeteries, citizens expressed satisfaction with the arrangements. Mayor Wahab reiterated KMC’s commitment to providing convenience to the public, noting the need for additional cemeteries as many existing ones are at capacity.

The new cemeteries will adhere to modern standards, featuring computerized records for each grave. This information will be accessible to relatives and available on KMC’s website, enabling easy location of graves.
