Karachi Mayor Announces Infrastructure Boost for Essa Nagri with World Bank Support

Karachi: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced significant infrastructure projects aimed at improving water supply in Essa Nagri during a visit to the area. The initiatives, supported by the World Bank, seek to address long-standing neglect and bridge the development gap between Karachi’s underdeveloped and more affluent areas.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Mayor Wahab was joined by prominent PPP leaders including District East President Iqbal Sand and General Secretary Riaz Baloch, as well as other local officials. The Mayor emphasized the PPP’s commitment to equitable development across Karachi, stating that the enhancement of local infrastructure like water and sewage systems is a priority. This includes the installation of new drinking water lines and the construction of a new canal alongside the Hub Canal to alleviate water shortages.

Mayor Wahab also engaged with the residents of Essa Nagri, listening to their concerns about municipal services. He reassured them of his dedication to resolving these issues promptly, reflecting on the broader vision that the development of Karachi is integral to the progress of Pakistan as a whole. His remarks highlighted the ongoing efforts and the political will to transform the city’s landscape despite criticism.
