Karachi, In a significant political development, Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Karachi officials expressed optimism that under Sharif’s leadership, the coalition government will steer the country toward notable development and prosperity.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the city’s leadership voiced their hopes for Pakistan’s progress, drawing parallels to the tenure of Asif Ali Zardari as president. They emphasized the collective responsibility of addressing and resolving Pakistan’s longstanding challenges, expressing confidence in the new government’s ability to navigate the nation out of its current difficulties.
Furthermore, Deputy Mayor Murad highlighted the local government’s commitment to resolving Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) employees’ dues and enhancing the financial stability of the institution through improved revenue sources and increased Octroi Zila Tax (OZT) funds. The deputy mayor underscored the importance of respecting all parties’ mandates within the city council and called for unified efforts to foster Karachi’s betterment and development.
The announcements were made during the opening ceremony of a five-day certificate course on the local government system held at the City Institute of Image Management, KMC head office. The event was attended by key figures, including Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Dil Muhammad, former City Councilor Shamim Mumtaz Wasi, and former Director Council Baldia Uzma Karachi Muhammad Zakir, among others.
The course, which saw the participation of approximately 30 city council members on its first day, aims to enrich the attendees with comprehensive insights into the local government system through lectures and practical exercises. The initiative reflects the city leadership’s dedication to enhancing governance efficiency and public service delivery across Karachi.
