Karachi Launches Major Green Initiative with Construction of 30 New Parks

Karachi: Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has initiated a significant environmental project aimed at enhancing the city’s landscape by constructing 30 large parks across all districts, alongside the beautification of various major roadways. This initiative, directed by the Mayor and managed by the Department of Parks and Horticulture of Karachi Municipality, also includes the renovation of three major city parks and the addition of green belts and high mass lighting poles.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, this effort is part of a broader strategy to make Karachi a more beautiful and greener city. The parks under construction include sites at Family Park UC-1 Ibrahim Hydari, Rizvia Society Park, and several others across different urban localities. Additionally, the project encompasses the planting of trees and the enhancement of green belts along key roads such as Shariah Faisal and Shahrah Pakistan.

Mayor Wahab emphasized the accelerated pace of construction and renovation, urging the Parks Department to ensure that these new spaces are accessible to citizens promptly. The initiative reflects the city’s commitment to restoring and securing public parks, which are considered valuable assets for community well-being.

Moreover, the Mayor highlighted ongoing projects like the enhancement of the lighting system in Kidney Hill Park and infrastructural improvements near Ayesha Manzil on Pakistan Highway. These efforts are designed to not only beautify the city but also to improve the quality of life for its residents through increased greenery and recreational spaces.

This comprehensive greening initiative promises to transform Karachi’s urban landscape, providing residents with accessible, well-maintained parks that serve as community hubs and contribute to environmental sustainability.
